As previously announced, this feature uses a load-balancing algorithm to ensure you get access to connect to the fastest available server for long-term connections.
The Quick Connect feature has evolved to the Fastest Available feature. From here you can see your connection status and choose from either the Fastest Available server or a recently selected Location. Just click the IPVanish icon in the bottom right and a small panel will appear. We’ve added a new way to connect! You can now activate (and deactivate) your VPN from the Windows taskbar notification area. But there are a few more ways to manually activate your VPN, too. Just double-click a location pin and confirm. You already know you can choose a server location from the new interactive map on the Home screen. Now anyone who wants to know their public IP address, server, protocol type, data transfer, and network status can find those details easily without technical graphs and panels cluttering the space. We kept the smooth style of our macOS line graph but changed to a color scheme that’s easier on the eyes. Now connection status information can be accessed through a dropdown beside your active location on the Home screen. Our solution? To conceal those details out of the main default view while making it easily accessible to anyone who wants those details. There is a dedicated balancing act between making something simple without crippling its functionality. What surprised us most was that the majority of users only wanted to know if they were connected, and where they were connected to. In our user experience testing 1:1 sessions (and media reviews), we learned that while some people truly appreciate having access to a visual indication of their real-time connection status, many users didn’t find value in it.
